What is this for?

A three-week course that will teach therapists and coaches to effectively care for and use your body in a field that is physically and emotionally demanding - the helping profession.  Participants will walk away better understanding how to heal from burnout, vicarious trauma, and compassion fatigue.  Participants will learn and practice basic somatic techniques to counteract the impact of holding space for clients for many hours of the week.  Participants will learn how to effectively utilize their natural empathy skills with healthy boundaries so they don't burn out and can keep working sustainably in the helping profession.

Why do we need this?

The world needs thriving helpers and healers now more than ever.  We are still coping with the effects of a global pandemic and massive world shifts that impact the provider as much as they impact the client.  As a board certified dance/movement therapist, Lauren's clinical training is heavily based in somatics.  Other counselors and therapists will benefit from a somatic approach to burnout and vicarious trauma.  Meanwhile, coaches will benefit from the clinical education and structure that may not have been included in certifications and trainings.

What the clients have to say

Tammy

"I took Lauren's Burnout course to help myself find tools to avoid burnout as a group facilitation volunteer. I wasn't sure if this would be a good fit as it was geared toward career professionals, but I was wrong. This course is an incredible addition for learning to avoid burnout if you are a person that cares for people in any ongoing capacity. She took time to get to know us as individuals and was able to tailor the overall themes and tools to our group needs. The movements were easy to follow, even through zoom, and options for cameras on or off. You can tell that Lauren cares about the material and the group in the course."

Abigail Keyes

"I met with Lauren as a dance instructor seeking to improve my understanding of working with dance students who have histories of sexual and other kinds of physical trauma. Moving the body can be a powerful way to heal, but it can be potentially triggering. Lauren generously shared her wealth of knowledge as well as simple and effective techniques that I can even integrate into my weekly dance classes. She also suggested ideas and theories for me to investigate on my own. She comes from a place of care and compassion that is evident right away. I feel so much more empowered not only to help my students, but help myself as an educator."
