How To Be A Trauma-Informed

Dance Instructor

A recorded workshop for dance and movement educators.

When the body keeps the score of trauma, dance class is on the front lines of trauma healing.  However, most dance instructors aren't trained to recognize trauma responses and how to offer coping skills.  This one hour workshop is led by a board certified dance/movement therapist who has been studying trauma and somatic practices for over twenty years.

Lauren shares some practical ways to recognize the fight, flight, freeze, and fawn responses in the dance studio and how to help someone ground if they need support.

Research shows that movement helps access memories we haven't processed.  As a dance teacher, you are LIKELY to see one of these examples in your class due to the effect movement has on unprocessed trauma.  In the past, these students might be viewed as "disruptive" or "unmotivated," but dance class is one of the most amazing places for a trauma survivor to be in order to heal, if it's an emotionally safe class.

With simple awareness and easy techniques, you can create a safer dance class for trauma survivors as well as the highly empathetic other students.

In this one hour recorded training, you will learn...

  • What "trauma" is.
  • How trauma responses might show up in your class.
  • How to respond to trauma survivors to help them feel more safe.
  • Simple grounding techniques that can help you and your students.
YES, I WANT IT!

Past participants have called this training "one of the most valuable and impactful trainings I have taken" and "simple. effective, empowering."

What the clients have to say!

Allie V.

“I'm so grateful for this information and for Lauren's expertise!

This has helped me understand the mechanisms of burn out better so I can spot warnings before they're a big problem. And Im learning vocabulary and techniques that are helping me better define my movement coaching work! Finally, the movement practices are delightfully structured. Even when I'm in overwhelm mode, it's easy to bust out a Brain Dance and get my body feeling more like myself again. Thank you, Lauren!"

"I cannot recommend working with Lauren enough!

I came to her not even realizing how internalized my trauma around weight and eating was and she got me to a place where I feel confident enough to take on challenges and be aware of how I'm feeling at any moment. She has a very holistic approach and meets you where you are, looking at how your unique experiences affect your life, relationships, and your goals. Meetings with her feel like calling a best friend. I looked forward to them every time! invest in yourself, you will not regret it."
